What "skills" can I acquire by studying at each level?

Beginners Level

The beginners level is for those who can read and write hiragana and katakana. While learning basic kanji, you will study about 1,500 words and aim to acquire the capability to read long texts. On completing Level C, you should have enough ability to try the JLPT N5. On completing Level F, you can try N4.

Level A

Skills to acquire	Learn three basic sentence patterns (noun sentences, verb sentences and adjective sentences) Understand the context of short sentences that you may hear or see in your daily life

Level B

Skills to acquire	Understand the "on" and "kun" readings of kanji Learn the past tense of three basic sentence patterns Learn practical expressions including time, place, price and quantity

The number of words (accumulated total)	288 words (856 words)
The length of sentences	280 characters

Level C

Skills to acquire	Understand the rules of Japanese word order Master how to use main particles Understand demonstratives such as "kore," "sore," "are," and "dore," as well as the main interrogative expressions and adverbs
The number of kanji (accumulated total)	64 characters (185 characters)
The number of words (accumulated total)	232 words (1,088 words)
The length of sentences	280 characters

Level D

Skills to acquire	Understand Japanese verb conjugations and learn their usages Understand the differences in meanings and usage between two Japanese writing styles

Level E

Skills to acquire	Learn the form of verbs modifying nouns Learn request / potential / assumption / invitation expressions

Level F

Skills to acquire	Understand connective expressions, including imperative, condition, cause and reason, and learn the connection and theoretical relation between two sentences Learn various sentence-ending expressions, including hope, obligation, permission, prohibition, experience and advice, and understand the feelings and intentions of speakers
