Features of Kumon’s study method
Self-study
Kumon’s study method allows students to learn the material on their own. In Kumon there are no teacher based classes as such. Instead the worksheets and CDs themselves play the role of the teacher.
Individualized study
At Kumon your starting point is determined by your current Japanese ability. The way you move forward in your studies is also personalized. For example, some students can master a certain task in the worksheets on the first try, while others need to repeat the same worksheets two or three times. At Kumon students can repeat the worksheets as much as they need, and by doing so, they can steadily and effectively improve. Moreover, you can pace your studies to suit your schedule. You determine the number of worksheets you do and the time of day you study.
Cultivating reading comprehension at a high level
You can efficiently acquire a high level of Japanese because Kumon focuses on improving a student’s reading comprehension skills. Through much reading and writing practice, we aim to widen your vocabulary and cultivate your reading comprehension. The rich vocabulary and expression you gain will also help you improve your conversation ability.
Small steps
Since the material progresses in small steps, you will be able to learn Japanese on your own without much difficulty. The material gradually introduces grammatical concepts and expressions, smoothing the way through more complex Japanese. Kumon’s program enables you to advance steadily, building a solid foundation in Japanese.
